Through architecture and landscape a home’s presence should reflect the ideals and spirit of its owners.

Inside and out it is a place of comfort and expression, the backdrop where life is lived.

PROCESS
We believe that good design fundamentally begins with great relationships with our clients. Design is a collaborative process in which the clients' knowledge of their own needs is as important as the expertise of the designer.

The design process consists of four phases: schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. Each phase of the design process is integral to the others and to the success of building beautiful spaces.  (We are happy to provide a detail of this document and further description of services.)

SITE
Creating a sense of place necessitates a careful reading of the geological, topographical, environmental, and cultural site conditions. By allowing these factors to inspire the design, a space is created which engages the surrounding environment.

MATERIALS
Good design becomes richer with the passage of time.  Architecture that is built to last minimizes the consumption of resources. The use of indigenous materials creates a connection between the architecture and the site. Natural materials such as stone, concrete, and steel will patina with age.  We strive to use the highest quality materials available that our client can afford.

COMMITMENT
The difference between an average design and an exceptional design often hinges upon the level of design detail. No matter how wonderful the design and quality of materials may be, the space will not feel exceptional unless the main idea is carried through in the small details. The detail with which our documents are prepared ultimately protects the client's interests during construction.
